July Showers Bring... October Babies!

Thanks to some seriously amazing family and friends, I have had two perfect baby showers.

Shower #1
The first was a shower for all of James' family on the 4th of July at his Grandma Palmer's house.
The Purcell/Palmer clan!

We played a game where I had to practice my multitasking. I had to hold a crying baby, talk on the phone, and do a lot of household chores. Here I am making a peanut butter sandwich for lunch. I guess I need to work on my coordination, since using your knees in generally not an acceptable practice in culinary circles.

A mildly successful attempt at folding laundry.

James' cute little cousins, Ariel and Courtney, brought my presents to me.

An amazing blanket with tugboats that my cute sister-in-law Cami made for me!

The damage
I left with lots of great gifts for our little man and some useful little factoids, for example: the largest baby ever born on record weighed 23 pounds. Ouch.
Shower #2
My awesome friend Janeene from work put together a baby shower for my friends the next weekend at Kristi's house, with the help of some other great girls.

Janeene with her cute little Koree!

My friends Tanya, Kristi, and Ashley with Kristi's new little baby girl.

Emily (cute and pregnant herself!) and I trying desperately to match celebrities to their crazy baby names. Ashley, who is extremely savvy in pop culture, won this one by a landslide.
(One of them actually named their baby Moxie Crimefighter... what?)

A little game of "can you remember what's in the box." A big no for me, but I got to keep all this cute stuff anyway!

Tanya made me matching burp cloths and a sweet little stuffed elephant.
Janeene made me a gorgeous rag quilt which, from the look on my face, obviously surprised the heck out of me.

Trying a new onesie out on my stomach... I think this kid still has some growing to do.
Thanks to all the friends and family for the wonderful support you have given me!
3rd Trimester
Well, here we go. I have now entered the 3rd trimester, which is bittersweet for me. The second trimester, with the exception of some unrelenting heartburn, was perfect. I had tons of energy and felt great. I have loved feeling my little man wiggle around during the day and get the hiccups. Even though I am excited that each week I get closer to holding our little one, thoughts of swollen ankles and screaming labor pain keep my excitement slightly in check.
With only 3 1/2 weeks left in Utah, James and I have begun the mad dash to finish doing everything on our list that we want to do before leaving Utah. We definitely want to make sure to see all of our friends and family before we leave- so come play with us!

I'm SO SO SO sorry that I missed your shower. It was crazy with the concussion and then I was in the hospital for a procedure the day before the shower...

Luckily we will see you soon & can give you the gift! Can't wait... You look terrific!!!
